Blog post: Hello all,
As I write this I am looking out at the rain, savouring my bed and enjoying just being in the space I call home!
We depart for Hobart on Wednesday for a whole month. Back in the day I lived in Hobart and Launceston whilst we were doing “Hair”, and not long ago I went back to Tassie for a holiday. It’s such a great place filled with beautiful scenery and some of the finest restaurants and fishing spots in Australia. I know because I checked out as many as we could during our stay!
It’s going to be much colder than the other places we’ve been so far which I don’t mind at all. I hope that we’ll be able to get some tennis in and a wee bit of sightseeing as well. From what I’ve been told Hobart is almost as excited to us as we are about coming down to do VELVET in the Spiegeltent! It’s gonna be fantastic to share some of what I know about Tassie with the cast members and learn a little bit more myself about Hobart. I’ve already checked out nail salons, lash extensions and all the things that we girls will be needing to keep up our beauty routines – LOL. There’s a lot of work that goes into being a girl, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I hope that your weekend was good to ya and you laughed with some friends and hugged someone just because.
By the way, I have a couple of questions that I’d appreciate y’all to answer for me – What does the word ‘romantic’ mean to you? And are men as romantic as woman? Or, do women have a different interpretation to the word? All I’m sayin’ is I look forward to what y’all have to share!
Easter is just around the corner which means Chocolate is almost gonna be more than plentiful. So stock up y’all!
In the meantime, take good care of yourself and all those you love and care for.
Sending much love as always. Peace. Marcia
Blog post: Hello all!
I hope that my message finds you happy and well.
We are in our last week in Perth! Can you believe that we’ve been here for almost a month? Well actually a month-and-a-bit. We’ve all had such a wonderful time over here!!! On behalf of the VELVET cast and crew we’d like to send a huge shout out to all of the people of Perth who have come out during the heat, wind or rain to see the show! And we’ve had some amazing generosity bestowed upon us – you know who you are. Thank you, thank you, thank you! It’s been soooo much fun!
We return home next week for five days and I’m looking forward to my little break – to sleeping in my own bed, hanging with Deni, seeing my goddaughter Ciel and hanging in my ‘hood and catching up with good friends.
Next stop with VELVET is Adelaide for two shows at the Thebarton Theatre and then to the Spiegeltent in Hobart for a month. I used to live down Hobart way, back in the day when I was performing in the show “Hair”. It’s one of my favourite places and here’s hoping it’s not too cold.
Get and give as many hugs as you can possibly fit in, laugh if something (or a lucky someone) tickles you and sit and tell a good friend a secret that you know will stay a secret forever!
And pull out some of that chocolate whilst doing it.
Much love. Peace. Marcia
Blog Post: Hello all!
Greetings from Perth where I’m sitting in a cool, air conditioned dressing room. I’m here with the cast and crew of VELVET which opens tomorrow night (Friday) as part of the Fringe World Festival and we’re all doing our best to acclimatise to this dry heat. We’ve done a couple of full runs of VELVET before our first night and in fact it’s the first time we’ve done the show in a Spiegel tent and it’s looking great! Kayla and Tom have been thrown into the deep-end and they are swimming very nicely I’m pleased to say. Now all we need is a big audience and we’ll all be on our VELVET journey for 2017! I can’t wait until we open.
Our accommodation here is great and the bedrooms are nice and dark (I was informed that’s because of how many miners are in town). And to be honest, a good bedroom is a dark one when needed! Perth is our home for the next month and we’ve found some cool places to eat nearby and as each day passes, when time allows, we are all out and about exploring our hood and beyond!
I left Sydney for Perth earlier this week, but managed to get in a big day of filming with my buddy Cameron for Foxtel Smooth before the flight. Always such good fun.
Before I finish, I want to brag a bit and tell y’all that Deni has a #8 chart position on the UK Soul Charts with ‘The Soul Sessions’. Who’s a proud Mum? Me, that’s who!
Now, we have another tech run this evening so I’d better get it together and start prepping.
Take good care of one another and if you happen to be in the same city as VELVET please come along and have a fun night out. Get and give as many hugs as possible, boogie even when someone’s watching, share a laugh with a friend and pull out some of that chocolate you’ve been stashing LOL.
Much love. Peace. Marcia
Blog Post: Well ho ho ho y’all.
Can you believe the countdown is on and it’s almost Christmas? This means the celebration of NYE being upon us as well. Yikes!
First of all, I want to send a huge shout-out to all the people who came along to see our ‘DISCO INFERNO’ show this year. We travelled far and wide and loved every second of it. Thank you for the great attendances – the guys and I have had a ball this year!
A personal thank you also to my team for their great support – Chris, Ron, Turanga, Adam, Jonah, Yanya, Joey, Dickie, Arthur and Corey and also to the guys at Jaden Social for helping throughout the year that almost was …
I’m at rehearsals at the moment with some of the cast of ‘VELVET’ as we sharpen up for the 2017 season. We have two new cast members and it’s all looking and sounding great. We will be in your hood at one point I’m sure – we’ll be visiting Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Wollongong, Canberra, Newcastle, Melbourne, Sydney, Darwin and Parramatta as well as New Zealand. Keep an eye out for the show and most importantly do come along – it’s a great night out with some very talented people as well as some songs I’m sure you’ll know and love. And bring your dancing shoes if you’re game!!!
I hope that you and all those you love have a wonderful and love filled Christmas – it’s always the best time to eat and enjoy yourselves. Have a safe and memorable NYE also. Get and give as many hugs as possible and laugh out loud just because!
And make sure you’re hanging out with people who have stashed some chocolate away during Christmas. These are the buddies to keep close! LOL!!!
Thanks once again for all the love this year and all the years that we’ve shared.
Much love. Peace. Marcia
Blog Post: Hello all!
As I write this message to you I am on a Virgin flight heading for Melbourne. The guys and I have been crazy busy and it’s fantastic to be doing so many shows, many of them private Christmas functions. Yes, it really is the ‘Silly Season’ though as y’all would be aware I adore Christmas.
It’s a little early, but I turned on my Christmas lights two days ago. I had to hold myself back from doing it sooner! I was listening to the radio station out of my hometown of Boston and they announced that the lights on the big tree in the middle of town were to be turned on last Sunday, so I thought why not, I’ll put mine on also!!! Obviously the nine-year-old in me is alive and well and happy because Christmas is coming. People always seem happier and cheerful during the holiday season!!!
My goddaughter Ciel is also a huge fan of Christmas – I filmed the lights and sent her a video and she sent me the cutest voice message saying “thank you”.
I’ve only bought a few gifts, I’d better get a move on and finish up before the big day is upon us, though here’s an idea for a great gift – a stocking filled with chocolate! Lol …
Much love and peace,
Blog Post: Hello All!
I hope things are good with you and yours, and that the warmer weather is finding you out and about during the weekends and whenever you are able to enjoy more of this stunning Spring weather! The nights are still delicious enough to sleep comfortably which is a plus. We recently went over to Perth for a great gig for ‘Lexus’ as well as making an appearance on the famous Telethon that’s held over there each year. They get an amazing amount of celebrities to attend and you never know who you’ll bump into in the corridors of Channel 7!
At this point in time I’ve not been walking as much as I’d like – the show is keeping me fit enough at the moment. Although, I did get a great walk in the other day in Centennial Park and it’s nice to get a change of scenery whenever and where ever possible. I had promised myself that I’d go down to Bondi and check out the annual ‘Sculptures by the Sea’ this year. Such great creativity and imagination in the sculptures.
And the show, of course, is our Disco inferno show which has been doing very well. Folks come along to party and dance their butts off which is always good to see!
It won’t be long before we start shopping for Christmas gifts. It seems not long ago that I was mentioning the unmentionable “present shopping for Christmas”. Yikes!!! How time flies when you are having fun. Personally, I can’t wait. Love me some Christmas holiday vibes – everyone seems so cheerful and kind to one another.
Take good care of one another and hug somebody just because, catch-up with some friends and watch a great movie together and don’t forget to share that chocolate around. And have a sleep over with someone you love – Deni and I are planning one in the not too distant future. I tell ya, even when they’re all grown, there’s nothing like watching your child sleep.
Much love to you and yours as always.

Blog Post: Hello All!
I hope that my message finds you and yours happy and well and enjoying this wonderful Spring weather! We are experiencing such sunny days and temps that are so easy to sleep in. I’m enjoying seeing Mother Nature doing her thing – the flowers are blooming, the birds are tweeting and the sun is shining. Perfect! My daily walk takes me along the coast and the ocean water is so clear and inviting. I do like the colder months, but there is something to be said about the lead-up to Summer which I’m so looking forward to.
We start rehearsals for the 2017 season of VELVET in a month or so, which equals the start of becoming match fit. I’ve missed doing VELVET so much and I’m looking forward to catching up with the cast and sharing some of what’s been going on and hearing what they have all been up to (as well as sharing some laughs). Our Director, Craig, is so cool to work with and our Musical Director, Joey, has the best sense of humour ever! It’s going to be much work, though to be honest, I’m looking forward to the routine of it all, being the workaholic that I am. We’ve got a huge year ahead. I and the rest of the team look forward to seeing y’all at the show in 2017…
I mean ouch – can you believe it’s almost time to think of shopping for Christmas gifts? This year has gone so quickly! Being home for a while I’ve had a lot of time to catch up with friends, break bread with them and share lots of laughs. This is what life is all about – sharing times that become precious memories.
Musically, I’ve re-visited Sting’s Fields of Gold album … wow, what a grand musician!!! I get truly inspired listening to him sing and play bass. Not to mention, he’s extremely easy to look at (in my humble opinion). Always has been, and always will be, one of my favourite musicians!
Ok, that’s me for now. Make sure you get out there and enjoy some of this stunning warm weather. Hug someone that you like and kiss someone that you love. Share a laugh with someone who understands and appreciates your sense of humour – laughter is the best medicine! Stay in bed for a day just because you can and find somebody to share some delicious chocolate with – it will make it taste even better.
Sending you all much love.
Blog Post: Hello All,
I hope that my message finds you all well, happy and enjoying some of the early Spring sunshine that’s upon us.
You know I actually woke up today and said to myself “my-oh-my where’s this week gone?” and I can hear y’all saying “does she talk to herself?”. Well the answer is yes, and often! I also sing as soon as I wake up but that’s another story that we can share on another day.
I spent last weekend in Melbourne and performed at the Fight Cancer Foundation’s “Red Ball”. What a fantastic event for a great cause and a grand time was had by all. Melbourne can really turn it out.
I also had the opportunity to shop and hang-out with a friend at a cheese and wine bar in the city. After a show I like to remove the war paint and crawl into bed, so this was unusual for me but it was so good for a change to chat and relish a good friend’s company and enjoy some really cool blues music.
The week’s almost gone, but what a week it’s been! Had another great dinner at China Doll this week. Love the venue, the wonderful staff and consistently good food! Also attended the premiere of Aladdin in Sydney last night – what a fantastic show! Great to see my friend Chaska on stage, and I want one of those magic carpets of my own! Also managed to spend some time cooking and hanging-out with good friends to laugh and eat – I ask you, does it get any better than this?
Also had a ball performing at Revesby Workers Club over the weekend, it was wonderful to see you all dancing and having a great time!
Please take the best of care. Laugh a lot, love even more, be kind to one another. And, if the situation presents itself, eat some chocolate (ahhhh …even if it doesn’t, find some chocolate anyway).
Love and peace.
Blog Post: Hello All!
I hope that my message finds all those around you well, firing on all four and enjoying life.
I have a question, where the heck has July gone? Y’all feeling me? I mean, wow – this month has been so full on, yet extremely enjoyable. When I’m busy I’m at my best. I’ve been working on a project that I’ll share with y’all when the times right and also touring my new show ‘Disco Inferno’. It’s so good working live. It’s such a cool thing to see people out and about and sharing good times. The audiences have been so supportive, as well as dancing and enjoying themselves!
I was honoured to be a part of a huge concert that was held at the Town Hall here in Sydney for the victims of the Orlando bombing. The artists on the bill all gave up their time to be a part of it and when a show gets put together like that – there is much love in the room. I caught up with many people I’ve not seen for ages, backstage was a buzz. I’d like to thank Trevor Ashley and his creative team for doing such a grand job. Also I’d like to thank y’all for all of the comments on the dress that I wore at the Town Hall concert. Lordy Lordy, I adore clothes – can I hear an amen!!
My birthday was on the 20th and I’d like to thank you all for so many heartfelt birthday wishes – life is good and getting better all the time. There is one thing that I know and that is that I am surely loved by you all and I shall never take that for granted! Never!
Had a ball at Cinderella at the State Theatre on its closing night. Caught up with the cast and our friend Craig Bennett – what a hoot.
I write this I am sitting looking out the window of my suite here in Melbourne’s Crown Casino. My very favourite of places to stay when I’m away. I’ve witnessed three seasons already. Love me some Melbourne!! Take the best of care of each other – share the love, share the tears and share the hugs and if you happen to find any chocolate on your travels eat some and share it.
Blog Post: Hello All,
I hope that my message finds you and all those that you love well and happy and getting into the holiday season. I’ve got my Christmas lights up and when the sun starts to go down I turn them on, sit in the dark and marvel at how beautiful they look. Many of my neighbours have them up and I love watching their decorations as well. I’ve been resting up and enjoying a wee bit of time off, doing big walks in the mornings and reading lots. I had the pleasure of going to see Sam Smith sing the other night, and, well, I can see why he’s so popular. He came across as such a humble, kind and grounded man and a very gifted singer. He talked openly about why he wrote his last album, and that was all due to a broken heart! (I’m feeling you boyfriend, I’m feeling you!)
One of the best things about being a singer/songwriter is venting – it’s extremely good to write down how you are feeling. Write it out, put it away and look at it later on. Wow! Some of the things that you write kinda surprise you when you reflect on how deeply hurt certain relationships have made you. That’s what my song ‘Heartache’ is all about. The most important thing to do is to know that you will get through it, and that love is real and we should all give it and get it back. I believe that’s one of the main elements that makes this world go round. So keep the faith y’all. Get up, dust yourself off, and start again.
Musically I’ve been listening to Russell Morris and his newest CD. He’s a friend of mine and it’s wonderful to see him doing so well. He’s a fine man and such a talented song writer and performer. I was actually saying to a friend of mine, who loves and buys tons of music monthly, that I’ve not heard anything that I’ve really been moved by except Adele’s newest work. She’s just so cool and her singing is so heartfelt. And she’s one of those women that will get better and better as time goes by. You go girl…
OK, that’s me for now. May Christmas be good to you and I hope that if you’ve got a present in mind that you wrote to Santa in time, or better still you dropped enough hints to hopefully get what you want (smile).
Stay safe and give and get as many hugs and possible. Give and get some kisses, eat, laugh and love when you can. (Who said chocolate? Hmmm??)
HO, HO, HO!
